"she's back!" —substack
hi! I haven’t opened substack in so long it took me way too long to figure out how to make a new post. substack calls these “articles,” which, ok, here’s my article.
first, I wanted to share a few recs and/or things I recently learned!
how to get rid of broken electronics
I had a ton of broken electric shit laying around that I’ve been too afraid of throwing away incorrectly — air fryer, kettle, humidifier, dust buster, etc — so on an unusally warm day I hauled ass to the special waste drop-off site at the DSNY in greenpoint, which is located in a place where you’re definitely meant to drive but I didn’t know that so I walked instead. it’s a stank walk, I wouldn’t recommend it.
anyway, after I went around these huge stacks of garbage cans, I met this ehh mista bruck-lynn ehh kind of short king DSNY man who taught me a ton in 2 minutes. “show me what you’ve got,” he told me, and I first pulled out my broken air fryer, which he was like, “I’m really sorry but this kinda stuff goes straight into landfill,” which definitely destroyed me. I saw him do a layup with the air fryer into the huge dumpster which honestly he looked kind of cool doing that, but it also made me sad. I guess I won’t get another air fryer.
then I showed him other stuff I had, like a broken plastic kettle and a broken metal kettle (I should really get a stove kettle), and I was surpised to learn that most of it could just be thrown in with regular recycling!! did you know that? I didn’t know that.
what he DID take were my 1. huge bag of random cords and cables, 2. just the battery from the broken dust buster (the other part goes into recycling), and 3. a random remote control to a device I did not know of.
biggest thing to note is that anything with circuitry needs to be properly discarded, so computers, phones, TVs, things like that. and some other items which you’ll see below. he told me to take pics of these two signs:

if you have fucked-up feet (esp from winter), get a medical pedicure
the experience is like stepping into a regular doctor’s office but there’s a foot bath! first there’s a technician who asks what you’re dealing with. I told her about my calluses, split heels, korn, bunions, and nail fungus. then the doctor came and he scraped all the hard stuff off with a tiny scalpel! this did not hurt. he did this as like paramore was playing on their sound system. then he said, “if I were a betting man, and I’m not, I’d say this isn’t fungus. you’ve got nail trauma.” insane! this whole time I thought I had nail fungus. also, my poor nails, I didn’t know I was traumatizing them for years! he said all my problems are from my pancake flat feet so he recommended powerstep insoles (which are way expensive so I got walk hero insoles instead) and toe separators and wider shoes. after the doc left the technician came back and sanded down and cleaned my feet immaculately and gave them a chemical peel to help with the dryness. honestly they looked awesome and I would have posted them straight to onlyfans. she recommended I put 40% urea cream on my feet twice a day (for the dryness) so I got a container of it but unfortunately it feels like rubbing elmer’s glue onto my heels. very unpleasant. but the medical pedicure was GREAT and I highly recommend it if you need it, and they apparently take pretty much all health insurance except mine (medicaid via healthfirst) so I paid $150 with my HSA card. I went to aire podiatry studio in the UES. the service is top notch but the lighting sucks in there.
baseball belts, a recommendation from christian joy
I don’t remember how we got on the topic, but my great friend CJ said the best belts are baseball belts bc they’re like $10 and come in all colors. lol, who do I think I am, the secret strategist?? anyway, baseball belts, I think it’s cool that there’s a sports uniform that requires a belt.

I’m selling vintage sterling silver; come to me for direct sales
okay, next order of business. (wow, this post is giving club random, as who weekly would say.) anyway, I had a revelation when I got back from japan last winter….which is that I should be selling vintage sterling silver jewelry! especially since I’m addicted to jewelry and buying stuff. so far I’ve made two private sales (thank you to my first customers, ellen and allison) and I very much enjoyed the IRL experience of that. which is to say, I don’t have a real plan or system for selling online, so if you’re interested in something (or want advice on adding something new to your collection), please hit me up!!! below is just a sampling, I’ve got many rings, earrings, bracelets, cuffs, and I plan to price a lot of these under $100. chunkier stuff will go for more. but silver is it; gold is way too expensive right now. I wanna get into men’s rings soon too.
and lastly, free shit
as always, reply back to this email if you’re interested in something

BYE!!!
